ABOUT

Pooja Verma.jpg

I am Pooja Verma, also known as The Doodlevert, an intuitive abstract and doodle artist from Mumbai, India. My medium of choice is ink on paper and my preferred colour palette is black and white.

My artistic journey began randomly with creating doodle art in my spare time, which not only acted as a meditative practice but also evolved into a deeper exploration of abstract art. My work is an explorative balance of contrasts - positive and negative space, structure and chaos, rigid and free form. I combine geometric shapes and lines with my instincts to create compositions that hold an ever-evolving narrative. It is deeply personal yet open-ended, allowing viewers to interpret through their own emotions and perspectives.

My creative process is intuitive; I allow my thoughts, feelings and emotions to flow on the canvas while embracing the spontaneity and unpredictability of my hand movements to shape the final piece. Abstract art, to me, is an unspoken dialogue guided by intuition to bring the undefined into existence. It is a journey of introspection and expression, where each piece materializes from an unseen moment.

Because my art emerges purely from instinct, shaped by feelings rather than tangible references, I often feel it transcends the senses we know and the world we perceive, reaching into something more profound. Perhaps that is why I experience it as a form of mindfulness - calming and inherently therapeutic. While my art may resonate differently with each viewer, I hope it evokes emotions, sparks curiosity and creates a meaningful connection with them.
